Established in December 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60. We are a Registered Charity and an Institution of a Public Character (IPC).
Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them.

My Guardian Angel (MGA) / Smart Resident Monitoring System

MGA is an integrated system for enhancing the well-being of seniors in residential care facilities, utilizing IoT, AI, and mobile technology. It offers real-time location tracking for various purposes, including fall detection, geofencing, attendance, and duress alerts. The system comprises wearable devices for residents, transponders within the facility, and a mobile app for staff management. St. John's Home for Elderly Persons in Singapore was the first to adopt MGA, resulting in person-centered care, a significant boost in staff productivity (94% increase), and high satisfaction among both staff (97%) and residents (100%). It was developed in partnership with Essence/HSC Technology Group, Lee Care, and Cisco Security System in 2019, with Gen 2 launched in 2023.

My Guardian Angel (MGA) / Smart Resident Monitoring System
Product Overview: MGA is an integrated system designed to provide for the health and overall well-being of seniors living in residential care facilities. It leverages the latest IoT, AI, and mobile technology to provide a real time location tracking that is used for fall/fight detection, geofencing, attendance taking, duress alerts, access control and laundry management. It consists of a wearable device worn by the user, multiple transponders located throughout the facility and a mobile application that staff can use to manage the system. St John’s Home for Elderly Persons is the first residential care home in Singapore to adopt this innovation, which has enabled the Home to provide person-centred, holistic and quality care for residents and improve staff productivity by over 94% (equivalent to 8.59 headcount saving). In addition, staff satisfaction with the adoption of MGA is 97% whilst resident satisfaction is at 100%. MGA was conceived in 2019 by SJH in partnership with Essence/HSC Technology Group, Lee Care and Cisco Security System and implemented as part of the new architecture built in Dec 2021. Gen 2 was launched in Mar 2023.
